Best advancements have been farmer designed. I do worry that the younger farmers don't seem to have the same problem solving ability as the generations in the past. Maybe its just harder to do now.

Stop over grinding an easy thrashing crop and your sieves won’t fight to keep up

There’s only been a couple major advancements in grain cleaning tech. Gleaner’s accelerator rolls was the first one. The second is side shake. Claas and CIH midrange had side shake connected to a level sensor for sidehill compensation. CNH has taken it to the next level on the CR and AF platforms. Side shake with sieve loading sensors that can correct for both sidehill and uneven loading of the sieves automatically. Deere has divider fins.

CNH’s new CR and AF machines have load sensing sieves that automatically use side shake to fix unevenly loaded sieves. I’d call that an advancement.

they have across Nealy all makes made the return system capable of handling a lot more repeat. they are basically forcing the top screen/sives to Act as a bigger area because they are using the return. if you look back to walker system from years ago they would add a tray to the width of the cleaning shoe as the machine got bigger. The new machines are nearly maximum size that can be moved around. so they are replacing bigger size with repeated runs over the cleaning surface. this is where the fan blower system has come forward as they can direct the force and flow to different areas to get the most out of the relative small cleaning area for the amount of materials that they can thrash.
