Doctors said the same thing to my bfs mom. and told her to put him in a hospital and leave him at 2-4 years old. he's 38 years old today and my bf and he's an amazing, smart, man who loves animals and me

What a strange video to resonate with but also realise how far the understanding of Autism has progressed well beyond some of the commentary in this.

all you have to understand this was probably the late 80s early 90s I didn't know as much as they do now. I mean even children that had down syndrome were called retarded mongoloids back in the 50s and that was a medical term. science in the studies have come a long way. and every child regardless if they have a disability or not or considered different in all aspects there's no one child the same. just like children with autism or down syndrome or Asperger's they're all different. I mean you can take two children and have autism on the spectrum at the same level and one can do more in one aspect than the other won't. and vice versa. I mean autism has been around for a long time back then needs to call them simpletons. or disappointments. I'm not trying to hurt anybody's feelings but that was the terminology back then. instead of giving them the teaching them in a slower pace they just got rid of them they put them in hospitals. and I am a parent with a child with nonverbal autism. and everything he's talking about you go through those stages because you wonder where did you go wrong what did you didn't do anything a different that you did with this baby or this pregnancy as you did with your other. don't understand you cry because you feel helpless sometimes. and that's any cuz we don't always have the answers. I don't know one thing I love my son with all of my heart and just like my other children I would die for him. he is the most loving, compassionate, kindest, most intelligent person I know. but he is also the most stubborn child or rather person I know. it can be hard at times. and then it can be the most beautiful at times.

Imagine back then how naive physicians and parents were, because they were basically told. Your child is not going to be able to achieve anything in life, we know better now, there's more education out there and looking back at this. people being told, lock your child up into a psychiatric ward, because your child never mount to anything. We've definitely come a long way since then

I wonder what he thinks of RFK. Personally, RFK scares the living piss out of me. I have a daughter with autism. I suspect other children with it and ADHD and I myself I believe I’m autistic and ADHD. RFK scares the piss out of me. And he thinks we need to be cured. There is no cure we are made how we are made. Cures are for things that happened to us not for how we are made. His son might be in the shadows as he says it, but I don’t think so. I think he’s in blinding light. My daughter is. The sensory overload can be real and that is for sure. I think we should provide protective gear and any home modifications to any Home that needs such modifications for their children. I think the world needs to be less ablest. Things are called a disability because the system doesn’t count them. Our ability is relative to our systems and we choose who to include. And that is what DEI is about. That is exactly what DEI is about. So I don’t wanna see anybody in this comment section who feels for Sylvester Stallone, and hated DEI. Not even Sylvester Stallone, who supported it. Because not one of us is a monolith for autism. But all autistic children should be included. All autistic adult adults should be included. It’s not a disease. I think my daughter might be more truthful in her existence than most human beings. She’s more authentic than anyone in that audience could ever hope to be. Who lives in the shadows? You have to conform and they don’t. Now you just have to decide if you want to include them whether they conform or not.
