I’ve always lived in my childhood home. I left for college for a few years, and came back to take care of my dad before he passed and immediately went to taking care of my mom, who passed in June. I’m still living in my childhood home, but it no longer feels like home.

except for when growing up your child at home didn't feel like a home it felt like being trapped 24/7. but then in your 20s you and your parents heal together. Now that childhood home has never felt more like your home even if you dont live there anymore.

Every time I think of home I have so many memories flood through me. One in particular though is Christmas Eve when I was 7, I put on my snow pants and snow boots because it was practically a blizzard outside but I insisted on walking to my grandparents for dinner. My grandpa was waiting at the front door and my mormor was in the kitchen. That was the last Christmas I remember before my Mormor’s memory started slipping and she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Everything seemed perfect that day and I was so excited and happy
