A post recently circulating on social media highlights that certain costumes featured in a series produced by the Thai entertainment company GMMTV are unmistakably inspired by traditional Myanmar attire. While creators have the freedom to take inspiration from other cultures when producing historical fantasy dramas, fans and art lovers are criticizing the practice of taking such elements without crediting the original culture and presenting them as their own creation. It is natural for neighboring countries in the same region to share similarities in culture, art, and traditional dress styles. However, cultural similarities do not erase cultural origins. If creators are able to draw inspiration and concepts from another culture, they also bear the responsibility to give proper credit and respect to the original source.
