How expensive to charge, I read somewhere that if you always fast charge ( regular one here ) it's actually the same as having a gas car .... so ?

The US automakers should reverse engineer this technology, steal it, and share it with all the other automakers. I mean, why not? China has been stealing patents and intellectual properties for decades. Fair is fair

This is one of the worst parts about the Trump administration. We’re just falling behind in technology, healthcare, green energy… just innovation in general. We could’ve developed all this stuff and had other countries buying it from us now they’re just gonna buy it from China.

The real innovation is the battery, not the charger. BYD invented a battery that is able to be charged this fast several times without taking damage. Other car batteries would die after a few cycles of being charged at this rate.

Here is the breakdown of the risk versus the engineering defense:
· The Heat is Real: Tests on the new BYD "Blade 2.0" cells during flash charging hit ~76.4°C, which exceeds China's recommended safety limit of 65°C for LFP cells. At these temperatures, the protective layer inside the battery can start to degrade, raising valid questions about long-term safety.
· The Fire Safety Net: Despite that scary heat number, LFP chemistry (what BYD uses) is inherently safer. It has a thermal runaway trigger temperature of ~346°C and requires much more energy to ignite than other chemistries. BYD has even shown that a damaged pack can be short-circuited without catching fire.
· The Durability Reality Check: BYD recently did a punishing test—350 Flash charges in 9 days at high speeds in 97°F heat—and the battery retained 98.7% capacity. This proves the cooling system can handle repeated extreme stress in the short term.
The honest bottom line: There is no free lunch. Frequent ultra-fast charging does physically stress the battery and can increase long-term degradation rates. While catastrophic fires seem engineered out of these packs, the ultimate answer on whether the chemistry holds up for 10+ years simply doesn't exist yet.

So when the cars are under $30k, the battery damage is a non issue. Just buy a new one after 200k miles

When LEDs came out, they would last forever. Now they last five years. It’s gonna be the same way with these batteries. The first generation are going to outlive generation five
