I’m a merchandiser for a big retail company and it seems like anytime I try to move or change anything customers HAVE to shop it. The area could barely be shopped for days but the second I’m working over there everyone wants to be right there. Anytime I would try to kind of block off the section I would be working I would get dirty looks or people would physically move what I’m blocking the area off with. Maybe customers needs to read the room and if there’s an employee working right there maybe just stay out of the way

Something tells me that the store was probably about to close and they were unloading the trucks, clearing out receiving and that's where the stuff just ended up. At my store they'll start putting u-boats and sometimes pallets in the middle of our main aisle so the walkway is very narrow and people can't cross over. We'll also get vendors who leave their deliveries at front of aisles partially blocking them off so people will struggle to get in if they have a cart.

this also happens to my small Circle K, we get trucks and we just have no time at all to put anything away since we have 6 people TOTAL so it's like one person per shift, and customers when you don't immediately care for them go "is anyone home, hello?"

Oh trust me. A guest peed (yes fcking peed) I put my ship cart and another guys ship cart blocking off the aisle. I went to get the mop while he stayed there. A manager asked him what happened so he was distracted. I got back and noticed a guest moved our carts, I told the guest maam it’s wet. She said oh it’s fine proceeds to walk across the aisle instead of going back.

It’s a possibility they’re moving merchandise around before allowing any customers in. It happens when I used to work in retails. We closed off a section of the store in order moved things around.

I can definitely add on to this. it's more likely the lack of employees. 10 years ago there was a employee in every single department. but now one employee who's stationed in clothing not only has to take care of clothing but also toys, electronics, linens, housewares. basically everything but makeup and food

Like I’d be setting a whole aisle, boxes all around me shelves leaning on the gondolas pacing back and forth with the plannogram in my hand and mfs will still step over all my boxes and reach around me to grab the stuff I’m actively putting out.

This. If this was early in the morning. Truck was unpacked and still being unpacked. Plus Halloween is being set up, the new Beauty Department is being set up where Ulta was, we have 3 different clothing brands coming in if you don’t count Latin Heritage Month Plus Winter Holiday stuff & constant resets for every department. 😭😭😭
