@jilliandaytrader: 5 things I would do if I wanted to become profitable by the end of the year: 1. Get serious about your relationship with God. This changed trading for me more than any strategy ever did. Pray before you trade. Ask God for wisdom, patience and discernment. And learn to be okay with the fact that sometimes the answer is not today. Trading gets a lot easier when you stop feeling like you have to force everything yourself. 2. Work on your psychology more than your strategy. You probably don’t need another indicator. You probably don’t need another strategy. You need to figure out why you keep breaking the rules you already know. Start journaling your trades AND your emotions. What were you feeling when you entered? Why did you size up? Why did you chase? Why couldn’t you take the loss? Your biggest trading problem is usually hiding somewhere in those answers. 3. Pick ONE setup and get ridiculously good at it. Stop trying to trade every pattern you see. Find one setup that makes sense to you and study it over and over and over again. Screenshot it. Backtest it. Learn what it looks like when it works AND when it fails. You don’t need to catch every move. You need to recognize your move. 4. Risk way less than you think you should. If one losing trade can ruin your day, you’re probably trading too big. Small size gives you room to actually learn without every candle feeling like an emergency. You can always size up later. Your job right now is to stay in the game long enough to get good. 5. Stop measuring good trading by how much money you made. A green day doesn’t automatically mean you traded well, and a red day doesn’t mean you traded badly. Start asking: Did I follow my setup? Did I respect my stop? Did I manage my risk? Did I avoid revenge trading? If you followed your rules, that’s a good trading day. The money comes after you learn how to do that consistently.
