I suspected my husband had Alzheimer’s 10 years ago, his mother had it. He would not go to Dr. I gave him a cognitive test which he failed. Fast forward 8 years and I finally got him to go to the Dr. he wouldn’t tell him what was going on, made me do it. We were moving into assisted living so it was time to deal with his denial. Dr ordered a cognitive test which he failed. He then ordered a cat scan which showed Alzheimer’s. We tried meds but they made him very dark and depressed so we stopped. For years I have been giving him several supplements and kept him doing lots of brain exercises and activities. He just started to get worse in the last two years. I asked our Dr. if we should follow up with an mri but he said it wouldn’t help or show anything different. He is happy, active and enjoying life. He just can’t remember anything for more than a few minutes or sometimes seconds. We deal with it with humour and make the most of every day. He just turned 79. Stay strong!

Thank you for posting. I work in Neurology and the Research is advancing quickly. Congrats getting into a CT. All information from these tests help the researchers. I’m glad you have support. 💙

My mom is one of 11 children she is 80 years old and has 2 other remaining siblings both older the rest died of early onset Alzheimer’s my mom does not have the gene but it has been an extremely hard experience for the family my grandma died in her 50s so we now know it was Alzheimer’s her dad died at 101

So articulate and beautiful. I live in an assisted living facility and I am only 62 with kidney disease. There are so many residents here that have Alzheimer’s and they seem so alone and just wanting someone to help them.

I’m a young 70 years. Feel like I’m 30. Diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment. Neuropsych is scheduled for October. Ptau was a high intermediate number. This is tough stuff.
