Awareness Session on Control of Narcotic Drugs and Implementation of Drug Laws Held in District Kasur An important awareness and sensitization session was held today in coordination with the District Health Authority Kasur, Drug Control Wing, and Counter Narcotic Force (CNF) Kasur. The session was attended and addressed by Dr. Sohail Tariq, Chief Executive Officer, District Health Authority Kasur; Colonel Masood Sahib, Head of Counter Narcotic Force (CNF), District Kasur; Dr. Khalil Ahmed, Drug Controller Kasur; Dr. Laiq-ur-Rehman Khan, Drug Inspector Tehsil Chunian; Dr. Bilal Yasin, Deputy Drug Controller Tehsil Pattoki; Rana Muhammad Aslam, Drug Inspector Tehsil Kot Radha Kishan; and Madam Maryam Sharif, Secretary District Quality Control Board Kasur. Representatives of different unions of chemists and druggists from Tehsil Chunian, Tehsil Kot Radha Kishan, Tehsil Pattoki, and Tehsil Kasur were invited to participate in the session. The participants were given a detailed briefing and awareness regarding the control and regulation of narcotic and controlled drugs, including the reporting of complaints related to the misuse, abuse, cultivation, manufacture, illegal possession, or sale of narcotic drugs. Various important issues concerning the responsibilities of chemists, druggists, pharmacists, and drug inspectors were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on the role and importance of pharmacists and the availability of qualified pharmacists at pharmacies, as well as the legal requirement for dispensing medicines against prescriptions in accordance with the Drugs Act, 1976. The participants were also sensitized regarding the proper implementation of Schedule G and other relevant legal requirements. The CEO, District Health Authority Kasur, highlighted the importance of ensuring effective implementation of Schedule G in medical stores and pharmacies. He further emphasized the need for proper maintenance of records of controlled medicines, particularly narcotic and other controlled drugs, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. The participants actively engaged in the session and raised various questions regarding the handling, storage, documentation, dispensing, and reporting of controlled and narcotic drugs. Their queries were comprehensively addressed by representatives of the Drug Control Branch and Counter Narcotic Force.
