I did this. I bought an older BMW M3 with no warranty.. the big-ticket maintenence items (rod bearings, vanos covers, valve covers, etc) to fix weren't covered by it anyway.. so instead I kept about $7k in a slush fund, in an interest bearing account, as my "warranty". whn things break or need to be maintained I pay with it and replenish as needed

No we got the warranty...and within 6 months the fuel system went kaphoey to the tune of 16k. I told my husband: We need to dump this money eating machine before the warranty expires. And we did. But that BMW 328d sure was a fun drive 💯

any warranty over bought claims get excluded for any number of reasons. Rusty on the edge of the door? your paint warranty only covers the outside, that's the inside edge. oh sorry your warranty only covers the mechanical parts of this assembly, not the electronics.

We have a 2013 ML350 that’s our “beater.” It has over 350,000 miles on it. Bought it used in 2018, no warranty. Has never given us a single issue and we’ll drive it til the wheels fall off. Let’s see if we can hit 500k miles🤣🤣

I paid 6k for warranty when my Range Rover’s CPO expired in April. It’s already covered motor mounts, a leaky water pump and a leaky engine access plug lol. It gets tricky when the cars get closer to 10 years old though because they won’t pay out more than the car is worth…

Bought a 2014 Volvo in 2021. Never again. 🤣. I'm perfectly happy with my Chrysler. Just as comfy, runs on regular gas, isn't ungodly expensive to fix.

I did and I bought a warranty. I was actually scammed by getting a warranty, they only covered $250 out of $1300 on a claim due to a leak and had to pay the rest. I still own that Mercedes and it has been flawless.

I always knew to stay away from European luxury cars. Nowadays just as problematic as domestic cars.

Im sorry but this is the reason I would never buy any luxury vehicle used. People probably put regular in to cheap out on gas and if they cheap out on gas they are probably cheaping out on maintenance as well

I bought the warranty.
The car never let me down at the side of the road, but it saved me a ton of money on repairs.

I had a 2015 C class (2.1 cdi) owned it for 3 years. Other than brakes, tyres. I had no issues. DPF blocked at 110k and the oil pan wouldn’t come off. Mercs just need to be loved

Used to want a Mercedes until my brother, who was a service manager at a Mercedes dealership, informed me of the cost of just basic maintenance let alone repairs. Got over that want real fast.
