NVIDIA is increasingly doing this: NVIDIA capital → AI/cloud company → company buys NVIDIA GPUs → NVIDIA records GPU revenue/profit while NVIDIA’s original investment generally sits on its balance sheet as an asset rather than immediately flowing through operating expenses. That can make reported revenue and operating earnings stronger than they would have been without NVIDIA helping finance the customer. CoreWeave is the clearest example. NVIDIA invested another $2 billion in CoreWeave in January, while CoreWeave is simultaneously a major purchaser/deployer of NVIDIA hardware.
