Have a schedule, makes weekends better cause you dont have a schedule. I always laid clothes out day before. less rushing. Prepped breakfast and lunch. I never wanted mornings to be rushed. I wanted the kids to enjoy them before there day of learning begun.

Be patient. He is going to self regulate all day at school. He might be a bit out of sorts when he gets home. He also might be hangry when you pick him up from school. I’d suggest having a big snack ready.

What helped me the most was my son ENJOYING and being EXCITED otherwise I would’ve cried a lot more but it was only off and on leading up and then his first two days!!

HAHAHA girl. You may cry a little bit at first but it’ll get easier!! My biggest thing is making sure he is able to decompress after school for at least 30ish minutes (auadhd 1st grader) and creating a schedule makes it easier for not only them, but you too🤍

New chapter for me to!! My oldest started Kindergarten last week, I had her signed up for half day… then on Thursday last week she threw me for a loop, said she loved it and asked if she could do full day. My mamma heart cried but switched her to full day. It’s so quiet in the house without her.

Have dinner already made or made by 4 so they can have a good meal right after school! Most kid dont fully eat so they snack throughout the day so they are starving when they get home!

he is going to do amazing!! I just always ask about one good thing that happened and let them know if we have a sport etc that evening, we have a set routine—come home, unload backpack, snack if they are hungry and we do homework right away. Then they can have free time if we don’t have sports—tablet (GASP I know), play in their rooms, outside etc. we have dinner, hang out together and at bedtime we have a timer on their TV for one hour. They’re usually sleeping by then.

What I have been doing is taking care of all my chores and in the evening just doing what my girl wants to do, and of course dinner and nighttime routine. For food I did make lunch everyday to make sure she had something she liked but she also got a tray at lunch and now she’s telling me what she likes and doesn’t like. I also message the teacher to check in and I know it’s extra but it gave me piece of mind.
