A filmmaker who worked with Los Angeles police on a documentary about the murders of Tupac Shakur and Christopher "The Notorious BIG" Wallace said he was shocked when he learned Duane "Keffe D" Davis was speaking publicly. Michael Dorsey testified in Davis' murder trial in Las Vegas that he saw a promotional video for Mario Diaz's "Death Row Chronicles" in 2017 that featured Davis "saying he's going public. He wants the world to know he was there for Tupac's murder. He says he has cancer. He wants the truth to come out." "I couldn't believe it," Dorsey said in direct-exam on Friday (August 21, day 6). Dorsey, who produced the 2015 documentary "Murder Rap: Inside the Biggie and Tupac Murders," "talked to I think [retired detective Greg Kading and some others" who reacted similarly. "We thought, you know, Keffe has to know he can't go public with this information because it can be used against him. But it sounded like he was going to go and talk, you know, publicly about this murder and repeat possibly what he had said in his proffer in 2008," Dorsey said. Dorsey worked with Diaz as a consultant for "Death Row Chronicles," including listening from another room as Diaz interviewed Davis again and texting him suggested questions throughout. Diaz also featured Dorsey on-screen as an expert. Dorsey said he watched as Davis "kept going public." "He kind of went and laid low, I think, for a year and a half or so, and then this book that he had talked about during his BET interview, all of a sudden he's promoting it and saying it's about to come out. And then we find out he's going on Vlad TV and doing another interview. ... Then he just kept doing more and more interviews, so I just I stayed engaged with it," Dorsey said. Jurors heard about 35 minutes of one of two interviews Diaz conducted with Davis. The recording includes Dorsey's comments to himself and the sounds of him texting questions to Diaz. The jury will continue listening to it when Dorsey re-takes the witness stand on Monday (August 24, day 6).
