I used to think hope had to feel positive. Like you had to wake up believing everything was going to work out. I don’t think that anymore. Sometimes you can be worried and still make plans. You can be disappointed and still answer the email. You can have absolutely no idea how something is going to turn out and still do what needs to be done that day. There’s something very human about that. We talk so much about resilience as if it always looks strong from the outside. A lot of the time, it doesn’t. It’s incredibly ordinary. You go to work. You take care of yourself. You make the call. You keep the appointment. You try again. And slowly, life starts moving forward before you’ve even realized you’re moving with it. I think that’s important during difficult seasons. You don’t always need to feel incredibly motivated or certain about the future. Sometimes continuing with the next small thing is enough. And looking back, you may realize that was hope too. Have you ever gone through a period when you didn’t feel particularly hopeful, but somehow you kept going anyway? #coralsantoro
