It’s insane to be a bridesmaid and then want to bring a random to the wedding who doesn’t know anyone - you won’t be sitting with them during the ceremony, you won’t see them at cocktail parties because you’ll be doing pictures and you won’t be sitting with them during the dinner - what’s the point?!?!?

A plus one for every member of your bridal party is a no brainer. They’re supposed to be your best friends and closest loved ones, give them a plus one and if they don’t use it they don’t use it

Unpopular opinion but unless everyone knows eachother AND lives locally, expecting people to pay hundreds of dollars to travel to your wedding, for accommodations and clothes and gifts just to sit alone is selfish and rude. I dont care if they bring a new boyfriend, a second date, their mom or their bestie. everyone gets a plus one

Plus ones are weird to me…. Like, me as a single friend should not be given a choice to just pick a random person to join me for a “party”…. This is a party. It’s a celebration for someone else!! I shouldn’t expect them to pay money for a stranger that they haven’t met… money isn’t unlimited for most people. A single person doesn’t need a “date” much less a bridesmaid needing one. That date would be alone most of the time anyways!

I wonder what the official "Ms Manners" or "Emily Post" recommendation is on this. 🧐 Brides choose their bridesmaids carefully hopefully and ideally have chosen people they love, respect and trust. Give them all plus ones, married, engaged or in long term relationship or not! If choice is a mistake, it'll make for a memorable story! 28 years married, all this drama makes no sense to me. Way too much time and energy invested in ONE DAY and the days leading up to it. The important "stuff" happens after the ceremony when the guests are gone and the Groom and Bride start their lives together. All the rest of this makes for great stories and drama ( love these skits) but doesn't make one "hill of beans" difference down the road. 😅 Weddings are celebrations of communities coming together. Many family members and friends are "randos" to the opposite side, anyway! 🤷♀️🤷🏻♂️

honestly I don't believe in blank plus ones at all. sure some people will be invited because of their connection to someone I am inviting rather than on their own merit but if they are not important enough for me to even know their name they are not important enough to be at my wedding.
