@arthur_on_food: 🤮 ZERO FOOD HYGIENE NO 12 🤮 This Afghan restaurant has a 1 star food hygiene rating and it’s my first time eating the cuisine — what could possibly go wrong? Filming was, to put it mildly, a challenge. This tiny restaurant was backed with blokes and they were not expecting visitors. The chap behind the counter didn’t offer much assistance when I asked for a recommendation, but a helpful bloke told me they didn’t do most of the menu, and said a rice was my best bet. So I asked for rice and lamb and ended up with some kind of biriyani at a cost of £10. Space was at a premium and I can’t say I felt a desire to eat in, so I headed to a nearby patch of grass to get stuck in. There was a mountain of rice and big chunks of lamb neck. The rice was, surprisingly, very good. It was light, fragrant and full of tasty raisins and carrots. The lamb received a big sniff — and the verdict was to give it a try. The meat was very tender, but lacked any real flavour. This dish is called Kabuli Pulao and it is very delicious. Perhaps this restaurant didn't prepare it properly, and taking the food in single-use plastic containers also ruins its quality.
