After Highschool going to college was non-negotiable for me. I believe it should be that way for all and I will not be elaborating!

College will never be easier than directly out of high school. I stopped after my associates degree due to a family emergency. Going back in my late 20s to finish my bachelors (and now my masters) is much harder to balance with full time work and social obligations. Stick with it because it will never be easier.

I just don’t understand the harm in finishing the semester. You won’t get your money back so it’s best to get some credits and perspective.

My opinion but….I would never force my kids to go to college. It’s a waste of time & money even though my kids are set up to go for free but still. I tried the college life and quit because I realized that I can learn everything I need to know and make way more money without a degree. I am an entrepreneur making 6 figures without a degree. I teach my children how to be their own boss and make their own money. People these days learn to make money by watching TikTok community college & YouTube university. 🤷🏽♀️😅

Well unfortunately shocking news a parent doesn’t get to decide if their child goes or doesn’t go to college they are 18 😬

My parents told me that I had to go for a semester. The decide if wanted to quit/ transfer ( I graduate from college with a bachelors degree😌) college is not supposed to be easy! But I feel like parents are doing their kids, a disservice by Not having them experience at least a semester

“college is not for everyone” my immigrant parents have and continue to bust their ass to get me to where I am today, best believe I’m finishing school and becoming the person they fought for

This! My daughters are Senior and Freshman in AP and Honors classes. There schedules were setup to be challenging because College will be the SAME WAY. They will not always be the smartest person in the room. It’s imperative that they learn how to work through obstacles NOW!

I quit bc I was not liking what I was studying. Some parents pressure their kids to go to college when they are still learning about themeselves . Maybe I will go back but let them go when they are ready, there’s no clock in life

We gotta remember that with the younger generation, a lot of these K–12 schools just pushed them along. A lot of them graduated simply for showing up. College is different. They’re not going to earn a college degree or become a doctor or lawyer just by showing up. They actually have to put in the work, and I think that can scare a lot of them because they were never truly prepared for it.

Why are you guys pretending like people never dropped out during your time? Dropping out during the first two weeks has always been done because it’s the drop/add period before schedules are finalized and you get charged. Also, college freshman drop out rates are the lowest they’ve ever been, your generation dropped out much more than the current generation does

I have no CLUE why people quit so early. I was basically running away from home packing my bags and doing a dance the whole way to the campus.

Some Parents are making home life too comfortable and not teaching independence throughout they’re childhood.

Absolutely! And I also think it’s very fair to talk to them about the fact that like yes, you’re gonna get home sick, yes, there’s going to be days where you’re gonna fucking hate it and you’re gonna wanna quit but you don’t you push through the hard days

Just sent my first born to college 3 weeks ago. While she is loving her experience and hasnt mentioned anything about being homesick or wanting to quit thus far, I am prepared to have this conversation if it comes up. Quitting is not an option. We will re-route if we have to but we are absolutely going to the same destination. 🤷🏽♀️You WILL finish! End of story.
