Arabic and Spanish are not the same language, and neither came from the other. Spanish mainly developed from Latin, but Arabic strongly influenced Spanish during Muslim rule in Spain

Doesn't sound right. For me, learning Spanish at university as a third foreign language in our curriculum, after English and French, both structurally (grammatically) and in terms of vocabulary, I can see so many parallels. Also, phonetically, Spanish gets so much use of sounds [e] and [i], often switching them or combining too. In Arabic, according to one of my student of Spanish whose first language is Arabic, it is very difficult to differentiate between the two.
