@.moneyshift: let's put the emissions argument against evs to rest. mit just did it and they counted the mining. thousands of zip codes down to individual drivers, battery manufacturing counted, fuel refining counted. building the battery is dirtier, that part is true. then you drive it and in most of the country a bev cuts lifetime emissions 40 to 60 percent, more in cities. they tested the cold thing too, north dakota, brutal night, 50 percent efficiency drop, minimal effect over a full year. so dislike evs, dislike the steering, dislike the brakes, want a third pedal. just stop repeating a talking point you haven't checked #ev #electricvehicle #mit #emissions #tiktokgrowthchallenge

"it's dirtier, but it cuts emissions on a gas that allows all life to exist"

dont forget, having to maintain all the roads and fix chargers/install them with combustion vehicles still, theres even more emissions factored in that aren’t accounted for in MITs test, what about when all those EV batteries drain and more have to be manufactured, then youd have to tow the cars to a shop, with a tow truck, which uses a combustion engine as well.

They always want to bring up lithium mining but conveniently forget about oil drilling, fracking, transport, refinement, and transport again, of the gas they burn, of which 70% is wasted to heat. how's it even a comparison in their minds?

Everyone fighting over EVs and internal combustion, meanwhile billionaires pollute more than a family of 4's lifetime in a flight and India creates like a third of the world's pollution

This is misleading because its only counting CO2 emissions. If you count the other toxic pollutants that leech into the ground and waterways from the mining and disposal of the non recyclable batteries the EVs are far worse.

the only way you'll find me buying an EV is if the market opens up to the EVs from China. Where the technology is actually innovative

lots of “car guys” who made this argument don’t gaf about the environment, they just want to hate on EVs for no reason. EVs have always been better for the environment.

Cars on rails connected directly to an electricity source would be a much better solution for urban environments. We could even make them really big and like, share them or something?

People who normally don't give a crap about the environment suddenly become very concerned about the environment once people start talking about the benefits of EVs. Funny.

After an EV battery is all used up, you can still recycle 95% of it

the battery manufacturing is about 10 times more polluting over the life of a vehicle and it's not recyclable.....

Emissions aren’t the only environmental factor. Mining lithium destroys whole ecosystems. So ya, emissions are lower, but total environmental impact is not.

I’ve looked up the study and couldn’t find it. I only found articles referencing it but it wasn’t linked there. The only link showing actual data was a comparison between a 10 yo Jeep Wrangler and a brand new Equinox EV. If someone finds the original study I’d appreciate it if they told me how to find it. Thanks!
