if she wants to transfer schools, let her.. the “effect on her education” will be minimal especially at this age. Her emotional wellbeing is much more important.

I teach third grade. I would talk to the teacher right away. I would let the teacher know that you are wanting separation with the other girl - as much as it is possible. I hope that your daughter branches out and makes new friends. 💕

YOU need to find friends for her. Organize play dates, invite others to her party so she’ll be invited to theirs. Don’t wait for her to find her social circle, build it for her.

I dealt with a bullying situation while my daughter was in KINDERGARTEN like WHAT?! The girls called her a loser cause she wore the same shoes all the time. I don’t understand how kids could be that mean at such a young age.

YES!!! As a former teacher we 100% want to know these things. We can tweak things without others noticing…we can have eyes and ears out for you. This is all important information for the teacher and school to have. 🤍🤍🤍

So sorry. my daughter struggled in 5-7 grade because of mean girls and bullying. I wanted to rip a few girls heads off; it was tough to watch my daughter cry every day. They bully by exclusion so it’s rarely caught or addressed. The best advice I can give you is to empower your daughter, listen to her, talk through things. Let her know that as bad as it feels, it will pass. My daughter finally turned a corner when she took back her power and left the lunch table that she was being bullied at. Once she did that, something shifted and the bully’s power over her was gone. 8th and 9th grade have been so so much better!

I would 100% talk to the teacher, it’s the beginning of the year there are probably seating changes that the teacher would wanna make anyways. Ask if it’s possible and to make it so they’re not the only one

Have you considered reaching out to the school counselor and also the teacher? I’m a teacher; and if a family explained this to me I would make sure to rearrange multiple seats at the same time so that no one can know why. Good luck!

The teacher can move everyone around so no one will notice. This is so hard. I had a similar issue with my son.

Tell the teacher everything so she can keep a close eye on your baby! I am a teacher - def give her the backstory. I am soooo sorry!!! If it gets bad switch her again! I truly believe a positive environment is the most impactful thing in education because mental health is everything 😭

All these comments recommending homeschooling are terrifying!! Your kid is struggling, yes, but immediately isolating them at home sounds like a nightmare for her self confidence, let alone her future resilience!

Unpopular opinion, but Private School. For whatever reason it’s so much better socially. It can be a Montessori school, outdoor Nature school or a traditional private school. Kids in these settings just seem a bit kinder.

As a teacher, 100% reach out! We want to know these things & can find (discrete) ways to help when you are not able to be with/ watch out for your daughter during the school day ❣️

Here’s what to do- 1) put her in martial arts. It’s amazing for building confidence and this step will be needed later. 2) send the principal an email with everything that has happened AND why you know as her mother it’s not in her best interests to move classes. Use the words “ongoing harassment” “consistent bullying” “psychological violence” then talk about the impact on your child, “greatly impacting her mental health” “causing trauma” then detail all the steps you took to try to resolve it with the parents. Then say you want immediately put to a stop. Also tell them this is not a peer mediation situation and they are not to talk to your child about this without your knowledge and consent prior because you are protecting her already compromised health. 3) everytime there’s a new incident you document it in a standard template day, date, approximate time, what happened. Title the document (kids name-bullying & harassment update #___” in the document write it out in detail and pdf and send it as an email attachment. 4) our should still be building her confidence in martial arts

Talk to the teacher. As a teacher myself I can help a student who is in this situation by building up her confidence (it hits different when their teacher says things than a parent for some reason) AND encourage/facilitate friendships with other kids. All without it being noticeable or obvious to the kids. Girls bully different than boys. It’s emotional hostage holding, exclusion, etc. I went through it myself in 6th grade and it was horrible. So DEFINITELY talk to her teacher We can help.

Is there another class she can go in that is with a different teacher? Without having to switch schools?

I know this doesn’t help at school but my daughter Maisie is a sweetheart and the best friend and loved hanging with Dylan in mermaid academy so if Dylan needs more friends we are so down. I homeschool Maisie for similar reasons, when we moved here from San Diego the kids were so mean to her so I feel so much for you guys ❤️

I am a fourth grade teacher. I would suggest emailing the teacher and asking for your child to be moved and that she not be sat next to this girl for the rest of the year. As a teacher this email, let me know that I need to create space between these two kids so in the future, I will not be placing them in the same reading groups, etc. also before the end of the school year I would have a conversation with the teacher about classroom placements and sure you do not want them to be in the same class if possible. Personally, I prefer when parents are open and honest about bullying and dynamics so that I can keep a closer eye on it if I do not know, I will not look out for it. Best of luck this school year.
