@caspiro.film: I Built the Cellar First, Then Put a Log Cabin on Top of It I peeled the logs first, then dug a pit in the clearing more than two metres deep and laid the cellar walls up out of fieldstone, course by course, right to ground level. Heavy beams went across the top, then a plank deck with a square hatch framed into it — and that deck became the floor of the cabin. On it I raised the walls in peeled logs with saddle-notched corners and moss in the grooves, pegged on rafters and split my own shingles for the roof, hung a door, glazed a window and built a little porch. Inside: a plank floor laid around the hatch with a flush lid and an iron ring, a small cast-iron stove with its flue through the roof, shelves and a table. Then I opened the hatch and went down the ladder to build the shelving in the cold stone room below — and filled it with jars, onions, apples and potatoes.#Home #DIY #construction #timelapse #building
