when mine was little she opened the front door and then decided to play hide and seek in the living room behind the couch. I was sobbing. lessons were learned that day 😅

As someone who once found a 3yo 15 feet from a busy intersection at 2am after he eloped from home. This is a wonderful idea. We ended up getting a custom door with an upper deadbolt. Alarms or upper locks or both are great.

I put an alarm on the door and turn it on when we aren't in the room... scared mine into not opening the door anymore without permission and mine could still get out if there was an emergency

Nah this is so valid. My mom stayed in a hotel room with just me and our dog when I was 3. She locked all 4 locks on the door and placed a chair in front of the doorknob before falling asleep, and an hour later she woke up to the door open, chair pushed over, me and the dog missing. Apparently I had unlocked the door and took the dog on a walk down the parking lot when the cleaning ladies found me and held me in the lobby till my mom found us 😭😭

When my brother first learned how to unlock door, he also started sleepwalking. We once thought someone broke in and my dad almost smashed him with a baseball bat lol
