@arnautiiii: In 1967, Albania's communist government under Enver Hoxha launched a campaign to eradicate organized religion, closing mosques and churches and banning religious worship across the country. Albania was declared an atheist state, and Muslims were no longer allowed to openly perform salah, teach religion, or practice their faith. For the next 24 years, Islamic worship was driven underground as generations grew up under strict restrictions on religion. In the early 1990s, the communist regime collapsed and religious freedom was restored. Mosques began reopening, and Albanian Muslims were once again able to gather openly and perform salah without fear.
