@hanklank: World War I took David Paul Lane from Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, at only twenty years old. His name survived on an honor roll, but a name is not a life. Here’s what the records reveal about the young man behind it. #historymystery #storytimehistory #AmericanHistory #Storyteller#OklahomaHistory
My dad was born in ‘27, and his family would feed a different pastor each Sunday from town. He knew which preacher was coming by how the chicken was cooked?! Baptist-fried chicken. Methodist-chicken stuffing. Presbyt-chicken n dumplings, etc. So yeah, small town churches were for the whole town & they cared for all the preachers

this is what communities should do, support those that serve. It is sweet that even today people remember David.

We had the pleasure of living in Duncan Oklahoma for three years. I’m from south Louisiana and my husband is from south Texas. We made some great friends in Ok and absolutely loved our time there. 🤍

Thank you to him for his service. Interesting he was an early army aviator because the oldest army airfield is at Ft Sill.

My dad’s original records were lost in that fire. The replacements were so different compared to my own.

this is fascinating and so well put. Ive been using online resources to track down my family's genealogy and I have had these conversations with myself. Yes, its fun to trace things back and delight in the stories, but without verified facts, it is just fantasy. Thank you for articulating this so well
