Most people who try Claude Code quit in the first session. They install it. Type something vague into the terminal. Get a mediocre result. And decide AI coding isn't ready. It is. They just started without a structure. I watched dozens of founders try Claude Code and walk away frustrated. The ones who got real output weren't the most technical people in the room. They were the ones who went in with a clear plan and a proper setup. The sequence matters more than the skill level. The right sequence turns Claude Code into something legitimately powerful. The wrong start wastes your afternoon and puts you weeks behind. The steps people skip are almost always steps 2 and 3. Here's the full process: → Set up your environment. Node.js, Claude Pro, Git, VS Code or Cursor. One install command gets you running. → Write a PRD.md before touching any code. Who's the user? What does success look like in 6 weeks? What are your hard constraints? One hour here saves weeks of rework. → Create a CLAUDE.md file. Your tech stack, naming conventions, safety rules, and CI/CD workflow. Claude reads this every session. Without it, you're starting from zero every time. → Validate your foundation before building any feature. Bare skeleton first: empty routes, Dockerfile, basic test suite. Make sure it deploys to staging. Test the workflow, not the product. → Build features one at a time. Edge cases upfront. Failing test before implementation. Read every diff. Commit small. → Connect external tools with MCP. GitHub, Jira, Slack for team collaboration. Postgres, Sentry, Playwright for databases and testing. This is what turns it into a true AI agent. → Use multi-agent orchestration for big tasks. Lead agent coordinates. Parallel agents execute. Faster output at scale. → Set up routines on Anthropic-managed infrastructure. PR reviews, CI failure analysis, dependency audits, security scans. They keep running even when your machine is off. → Handle your Git workflow in plain language. Commits, branches, PRs, and code reviews via GitHub Actions or GitLab. → Move between surfaces without losing context. Terminal to desktop to browser to mobile. The session stays with you. The full breakdown is in the infographic. Worth saving before you scroll past it. If this is the kind of content you want more of, my profile is worth a follow. Know a developer who keeps putting Claude Code in the "figure it out later" pile? This is the nudge they need. Where are you in this process right now? Curious what's actually been blocking people. #jamesCodeLab #TechSkills #ClaudeAI #Claude #ArtificialIntelligence
