I swear it's always the teachers saying this and it's not even a joke. "What's your dream job?" "What job will you choose after college?". These teachers have such shallow minds to think that all you should ever do in your life after school is get a job and work for the rest of your life and it's sickening for me. It's one of those moments where you know that you're different, that there's actually something wrong with how the world works. It's one of the points of education but it's not the end of the line to just get a job and stay there for the rest of your life. You can just... work. Work is a better term. It's not an obligation, but a commitment to doing something that is risky but might benefit you in the future. Working as an employee in a business is a job, building a business or investing in stocks is working. And I feel like teachers need to deepen more on that because that's all they ever mention after college, just jobs and jobs and jobs. It's not wrong but it's incomplete, because other people have plans and life isn't all about jobs but it's about living. Most of us are lucky enough to be in a spot where we have so many opportunities to grow everyday. Like being able to go to school or have good food everyday or a daily allowance from our parents. We shouldn't just repay them by waiting until college to work and working for the rest of our lives. We have so many ways other than getting a job after college that we can use to repay our parents' dedication and care for us. Right now it is so easy to get into investing and trading with the support from your parents and that's one small way you can use your opportunities in the present to potentially pay your parents back and actually grow as a person. It's such a shame that some people actually just wait until college till they actually start being serious with their lives because there's so much we could do right now especially in this rapidly expanding world. It's not easy, but it's definitely better than waiting 20 years before actually working in your life.
