My dad went to the ER for a kidney stone and got a morphine shot and sent home with hydrocodone. I went for kidney stones, gall stones, and rupturing cysts on my ovaries and got ibuprofen 500mg.

The (2013?) study on “the attractiveness of women with endometriosis” says everything I ever needed to know about the patriarchy when endo hasn’t even been studied in any depth itself.

the rete ovarii was deleted from anatomy textbooks sometimes in the 70s for fear of confusing doctors. it was seen as "evolutionary baggage" bc they couldn't figure out what it did.
so they edited our body part from textbooks. doctors damaged nerves and blood vessels that went to it during surgeries due to lack of knowledge.
guess what. in 2022, they figured out that it secretes hormones we need.
and even after said discovery, it still has not been re-added to most anatomy textbooks.
bc who needs all their parts working, amirite? 😳

I went to the ER earlier this year because I had severe pain so bad i couldn't stand up straight and read vomiting. Wasn't appendix because I had that removed several years ago. The ER gyno who was a male said it was probably just a cyst that burst. Told me to take Tylenol for the pain and sent me home. Went and saw my regular gyno who is a female and fantastic and she said it sounds like ovary torsion and I was in surgery a few days later. Turns out that cyst ER male doc mentioned actually was so heavy that it caused my ovary to twist and the cyst was the size of a fist and my ovary was grey from the lack of blood flow and I had to have it removed. Always get a female doctor even if you have to drive further

My friend with a history of DVT and pulmonary embolism went to the ER with chest pain. They did an ekg and blood work. EKG was fine. Troponin was high (heart stress). They said she probably pulled a muscle. She insisted on scans. They said her gallbladder was fine. They said no PE. They called later that night. Oh. There are some small clots in your lungs. Follow up with your dr. She had a stroke that night.

Legit. My dad is a disabled vet with chronic back pain issues and he has a pain team and gets meds. I have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis for 10+ years and been in pain as long as I've had my earliest childhood memory. They refuse to address the pain. The last time my MS put me in the ER (which labs showed was due to it) they would only treat me with steroids for 7 days. I hate the patriarchy.

By the time a doctor took my pain seriously the endometriosis was so advanced that my uterus, bladder, and colon were fused together by endometrial tissue. For over a decade I was told I had “ normal cramps”.

I had chronically inflamed uterus. My Dr. refused to admit my IUD was causing it. Also got a fibroid. Finally after 4 yrs, I was able to get IUD removed. It was growing into my uterus wall. I had to have it ripped out with forceps and NO pain medication. I was bleeding and the only instructions I was given was to watch my bleeding. If that was a man, he would have been loaded up with pain medication. I was so sick my Dr. thought I had cancer. She gave me 1 set of antibiotics and told me to eat less sugar.

I’m sry but having babies in a teenage body literally stretches your bones and organs. Later in life your body will HURT due to pregnancy. I was 14 yrs old and delivered a 8 pound baby. My hips and lower back hurt so much now that I’m in my 40s. On top of that our bone health starts declining with age as well. How do I find relief if there an opioid epidemic and women cannot have pain relief without prejudice and judgment ? My grandmother had plenty of medication to help cope with aches and pains and mental health too. What are women supposed to do in this time? We are all just suffering.
