@nourishingapothecary: Supplements can cause harm too. We talk a lot online about supplements as though the worst possible outcome is that they simply don’t work. That isn’t true. In this clip from Season 2, Episode 2 of Inside the Apothecary, we discuss a treatment plan I saw that genuinely concerned me because of what had been recommended and the level of training behind that advice. Clinical prescribing isn’t just choosing supplements for a symptom. You need to understand physiology, pathology, medications, contraindications, nutrient interactions, dosing and the person’s individual health history before deciding whether something is appropriate. And this is one of the problems with health advice online. A certification, course or mentorship is not necessarily equivalent to comprehensive practitioner training. Supplements can be incredibly useful when prescribed appropriately. But “natural” does not automatically mean harmless.
