@laura.b.zeka: This started as the cake nobody wanted to attempt because flipping a hot pan upside down sounded like a guaranteed disaster, and now it's the one people ask me to bring on purpose. 🌰 TOPPING Melt 8 tablespoons butter right in a 9 or 10-inch round cake pan, either in the oven or on the stovetop, then stir in ½ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup corn syrup and a pinch of salt until bubbling slightly, that bubbling is what tells you the sugar's actually dissolved instead of just melted butter with grit sitting in it. Sprinkle 1 cup chopped pecans evenly over the top. 🍰 CAKE Beat together 1 box yellow cake mix, 3 large eggs, ½ cup vegetable oil, 1 cup water and ½ cup sour cream until smooth, then pour it evenly over the pecan layer. Bake at 350°F for 40 to 45 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for exactly 10 minutes, no longer, then set a plate over the pan and flip it in one motion.
