I love this guy, but the premise here is wrong. I have an Egyptian friend; says in their culture they never read books to their children. In western culture you read books regularly from a young age. Of course we care about children. Only a subset of westerners are abusive and neglectful, but I’m sure there is enough evidence around the world of child abuse and neglect to go around.
