Golden, buttery steak bites coated in a sticky hot-honey garlic glaze, piled beside fluffy mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. This cozy dinner tastes like a restaurant treat but is easy enough to make at home! Prep: 15 minutes | Cook: 25 minutes | Serves: 2 Ingredients (Serves 2) For the steak and hot-honey garlic glaze - 350 g sirloin steak, cut into 2.5 cm (1-inch) cubes - 1 tbsp neutral cooking oil - 2 tbsp unsalted butter - 3 garlic cloves, finely minced - 2 tbsp honey - 1 tbsp soy sauce - 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste) - 1/2 tsp smoked paprika - 1/2 tsp fine salt, plus more to taste - 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper - 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, to finish For the creamy mashed potatoes - 500 g floury potatoes (such as Russet), peeled and cubed - 2 tbsp unsalted butter - 80 ml (1/3 cup) warm whole milk - 1/2 tsp fine salt, or to taste - 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper For the roasted asparagus - 200 g asparagus, woody ends trimmed - 1 tbsp olive oil - 1/4 tsp fine salt - 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper Instructions 1. Heat the oven: Preheat to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Put the cubed potatoes in a saucepan, cover with cold salted water, and bring to a boil. 2. Boil the potatoes: Reduce to a steady simmer and cook for 15–18 minutes, until the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork. Drain thoroughly, then return them to the warm pot for 1 minute to evaporate excess moisture. 3. Roast the asparagus: Toss the asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread in one layer on the baking sheet and roast for 10–12 minutes, until tender with lightly browned tips. Thicker spears may need a few minutes longer. 4. Make the mash: Mash the drained potatoes until smooth. Fold in the butter, then add the warm milk a little at a time. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and keep warm; avoid overmixing so the mash stays fluffy. 5. Sear the steak: Pat the steak cubes very dry. Season with smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Heat the neutral oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak in a single layer for about 2 minutes per side, working in batches if needed, until browned. For food safety, cook whole-cut beef to at least 63°C (145°F) and rest for 3 minutes. Transfer the steak to a plate. 6. Make the hot-honey garlic glaze: Lower the heat to medium-low. Add butter and garlic to the same skillet and stir for 30–45 seconds, until fragrant but not browned. Add honey, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes. Simmer gently for 30–60 seconds, stirring until glossy. 7. Coat and serve: Return the steak and any resting juices to the skillet and toss for 30 seconds to coat. Divide the mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus between two plates. Spoon the sticky steak bites over or beside the mash, drizzle with the remaining glaze, and sprinkle with parsley. Serve immediately. Little tip: Drying the steak before searing is the secret to those deep golden edges. Keep the honey glaze over gentle heat so it stays glossy instead of burning. Save this for your next cozy dinner night, and share it with someone who loves garlic-butter everything! ❤️ #fyp #HotHoney #EasyDinnerIdeas #ComfortFood #recipesoftiktok
