31 Days 31 Anime That Are Actually Peak But Forgotten. ANIME NAME: The Summit of the Gods. GENRE: Adventure Drama Mountaineering Interesting Fact : The Summit of the Gods follows Fukamachi, a wilderness photographer in Kathmandu who stumbles upon a camera rumored to have belonged to George Mallory, the legendary mountaineer who vanished attempting Everest in 1924, potentially holding proof of whether he reached the summit before his death. His search for answers leads him to Habu Joji, a reclusive and obsessive climber with a checkered past, whose entire existence has been consumed by an almost spiritual need to conquer the mountain regardless of the cost. As Fukamachi digs deeper into Habu's history of tragedy, rivalry, and near suicidal ascents, he becomes drawn into accompanying him on one final, incredibly dangerous solo attempt on Everest, forcing both men to confront what actually drives a person to risk everything for something as unforgiving as a mountain. What makes it stand out is how it strips away spectacle in favor of raw, quiet obsession, turning mountaineering into a meditation on purpose, isolation, and the thin line between passion and self destruction. Adapted from Jiro Taniguchi's acclaimed manga and animated with stunning realism, the film captures the terror of avalanches and the crushing physical toll of high altitude climbing alongside genuinely breathtaking, meditative visuals of the Himalayas. With its restrained storytelling, aching character study, and one of the most beautifully animated depictions of nature ever put to screen, The Summit of the Gods remains one of the most criminally overlooked animated films of the past decade. #summitofthegods #mountaineering #animatedfilm #animeedit #viral - @your_guide9
