Not chores, which feels negative (have to do) but responsibilities, which feels empowering (in charge of)

If you want your children to like each other, PLEASE don’t make them share a bedroom. It never works out and they will just end up hating each other, it’s also very important to give teens a private space.

I have been teaching my daighter from age 2 that sometimes kids just dont wanna play and that’s okay. They may not want hugs or high fives and that’s okay. Equally okay if she doesnt want to play with them or share a toy she is actively playing with.

I think "at a certain age" needs to be outlined, but yes. My 9 year old knows how to sweep and mop and put things in the dishwasher. However, we have top load washing machine and most of our dishes go in upper cabinets, so she literally too short to do some things.

Being a helicopter parent is harmful and detrimental to child development, not to mention unnecessary and unrealistic

My sister absolutely cannot regulate herself when it comes to boredom. “I’M BORED” at the top of her lungs until she’s given our mom’s iPad.

for the chore one I would disagree since my parents force me to pay for anything I want and have since I was about 12. I can't work at 12 and having a steady minor income can teach them money management (I don't Mena like 50 per chore I mean like 20-30 depending on if the chores are for their own stuff or the whole house)

if ur in the store (especially when it's late) and your baby/toddler is crying, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! I see too many parents just go "shhhh" without trying to figure out what's wrong and then keep shopping like it's normal!

No seriously why does your kid need an iPad for a 10 minute ride to the grocery store?

My brother was 12 and my mom told him to get his laundry so she could wash it and he said ”But mom that’s your job.” So that day my mom decided to teach my brother how to use the washing machine because she wasn’t washing his clothes anymore and I had to learn also because me laughing my ass off was good enough for her to teach me that day too

I don’t even know how to use the washing machine. It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s that I never have to. Since I don’t do my laundry that much my brain doesn’t see that information as important and I’m too scared to ask how to use it every time.

Here’s one from a zookeeper: don’t hype up your kid telling them the animals are going to be so excited to see them. The child gets all these expectations that the animals will run up to greet them and be happy. The child then gets understandably upset when the animal doesn’t want to get up from their nap to look at them. Your child means nothing to the animals, and they don’t owe you or your child anything

Growing up it frustrated me when I explained to my parents that sometimes other kids didn’t like me and they got mad, it’s NORMAL to dislike it be people I mean sure it made me sad but that’s not their fault

The one about not everything needing a negotiation!!! I'm a teacher and often my answer is "no" and I'm met with a million questions. It's not that I don't want to explain why, but sometimes no just has to be enough.

professional kitchens make amazing first jobs for teenagers especially young men, learning how to work as a team, professionally clean, cook the basics and work with people wildly different from you.
