For us, it was love at first sight 23 years ago. This person (LIBRA) is my soulmate, the love of my life. He is me, and I (CANCER) am him. We are one. Everyone who has heard about our separation is shocked, because nobody understands how this could have happened. Everyone says, “You two are the absolute last couple we ever would have thought would separate.” And he himself told me that if someone had told him three months ago that all of this would happen, he would have replied, “Not in a million years.” He left me three weeks ago. He fell in love and says he can no longer imagine a life without this woman – even though he has only known her for five weeks. And apparently, 23 years of being together, including 16 years of marriage, suddenly mean nothing. What makes this even harder for me is that three months ago, we were sitting at the notary’s office regarding our joint will, we opened a new joint bank account, and just 10 weeks ago, we bought thousands of euros’ worth of new furniture together. On top of that, for about a year now, he has been struggling very, very intensely with a midlife crisis and with getting older. I can’t shake the feeling that something about this whole situation is deeply unusual. I cannot fully explain it, and I do not want to present anything as fact that I cannot prove. But sometimes I have the feeling that something spiritual could be connected to this woman and to what is happening right now – almost as if there were something dark about her, something connected to the devil. It is not just a feeling I have myself. The man I have known and loved for 23 years, my husband and my best friend, suddenly seems so different – almost as if something inside him has completely changed. I don’t know what is happening right now. I don’t know whether there really is something spiritual behind all of this, but I cannot ignore this feeling that there is something deeply uncharacteristic of him about the entire situation. And despite everything, deep in my heart, I still believe that our story has not been completely written yet.
