@kbfsufan: It really feels like the USA is lagging far behind our European counterparts when it comes to taking care of new moms, dads, and babies. There are not many places that give paid leave although some states are trying to pass legislation. When I was having babies, 6 weeks was standard. Now, at least some places will allow you to take FMLA but that's not paid. It only guarantees your job for 12 weeks and you only get paid if you save up your PTO. Or...if you have short term disability that kicks in, that's usually only about 60% of your pay. We have GOT to start taking better care of mommies and daddies who are taking care of babies who are our future! I took 6 weeks unpaid as a nurse. The second week back I had to get a spinal tap… wanna know what my boss said ? “You just took 6 weeks off and now you’re calling out?” 🙈🙈🙈 sorry my health comes first 🤣
