I was in high school English class when this happened. We were went into lockdown and watched it live. several of my classmates had family members who were there Christmas shopping.

I knew the shooter. We grew up in the same neighborhood, same schools for a while. When it was revealed to be him, it was shocking. But he always seemed troubled, even when we were incredibly young.

My coworker’s sister worked at Von Maur. She called him while she was hiding during the shooting. I ended up working with her myself and she takes the day the shooting happened off every year.
