@factsandstacks: Millennials may be feeling better about their finances than the generations ahead of them. A new Chime survey of 3,000 U.S. adults found that 49% of millennials say they’re financially better off than they were five years ago. That compares with 43% of Generation X and 40% of baby boomers. The same research found that 84% of millennials say their 30s changed the way they think about money, success, and financial goals. Many are also measuring financial progress differently than previous generations, with supporting loved ones ranking ahead of homeownership as a marker of success. Millennials still face major hurdles around housing costs, debt, and delayed homeownership, but the data suggests a generation long defined by financial struggle may finally be starting to feel some progress.

I don't know a single millennial (unless they were able to buy a house pre 2020) who would agree with this... most are struggling

They’re aging into the systems that benefit older generations. Nothing about America is financially improving. Thier just getting older and receiving tax benefits.

I have a house, I'm making $40k more than 5 years ago, I do feel better about my finances technically. Now instead of being in debt, I'm investing $100 every 3 months lol. Yay, everything is wonderful

this is anecdotal....if you ask most young kid 18-25 this question of course their financial situation will improve early on after 5 years , that's when you go from a dead end job to a career or if u do construction after 5 years u advance and get paid way more vs 5 years prior, or you just finished school etc .... all you need to look at is average cost of living vs. wages.

The study doesn’t even say we are better off than previous generations. It just says that less than half of our generation thinks we are doing better than we were 5 years ago. I know I’m doing better than I was 5 years ago, but I’m still struggling. I’d gladly give up the internet to go back to houses costing $50,000 and everything at the grocery store being a nickel.

So the report literally says that the older millennials who were born before 1990-early 1991 reported an increase. So basically the the only people who made more money are the older half of millennials.

I mean, maybe. But improving from "I am in financial hell and will be forever" is not comparable to falling from "I am doing just fine and will be forever."
