I have said this for many years. I taught climate science in AK to HS students and when I core sampled a glacier there with climatologists in 2009, they told me we were so fcked THEN. The time it takes to vote our way into saying ourselves from this 6th mass extinction event will be our undoing.

I'm about at the point where I start making spreadsheets/Google alerts and shaming politicians because why did several California Democratic incumbents, with double digit leads in their districts, vote to honor Charlie Kirk last year? To be fair, the idea of America having democracy is a farce. Sure, the American electorate is stupid and easily tricked. But also the American electorate doesn’t get what it wants, even when it accidentally appears to vote in its best interests. The only group that decides what happens in this country has a net worth in the hundreds of millions or more.

Thinking about how to approach this - but can you work backwards from a place where a rapture-esque revolution doesn’t take place and how that might change your political mindset? I just can’t take seriously the claim that American democracy is almost over from someone who has only had the ability to vote for 4 years. It seems more likely to me that this project will keep going with those who take the most interest in figuring out how to actually navigate this system taking reins of the levers of power.
