I have three daughters: two have been diagnosed with ADHD, while the status of the third is still uncertain. After my daughters received their diagnoses, I was diagnosed as well. My eldest daughter has the inattentive type, the second is also hyperactive, and I believe the third is just hyperactive. Then we realized that my sister is exactly like my eldest daughter, so she has it too. In all likelihood, my mother is hyperactive. There are also three hyperactive young children in my husband's family; one of them was just diagnosed. So, both sides of the family are affected—I know for sure that it is genetic.
