I agree I don’t really like the idea that superheroes nowadays aren’t allowed to be angry or act out of anger or emotionally express their negative emotions and thoughts. It’s always a negative force pushing them into being “angry” or out of stress like Hal with parallax, Superman and red kryptonite, and Spider-Man and the symbite suit

Having a Superman conversation is so annoying now. Someone asked why Superman never unbottled Kandor or saved Mon-El and I replied with “Superman is a failure and death permeates from him like radioactive aura” and someone else not in the conversation tried to call what I said ridiculous and inaccurate. Batmans relationship with his sons is not nearly as perfect as a lot of people pretend it is. For example Bruce really neglected Richard in his first few months of living there because he was so obsessed with catching the killer and his mission. This hypocrisy and his growth however into a half decent father is what makes that relationship so interesting

YESSSS and then when the fandom is like “oh we were wrong about this character” they’ll just do the same thing but with the opposite traits. Dick Grayson for example, I felt like there was a moment in fandom where people were like “oh he’s more than just the happy robin” which became “if you depict him as happy go lucky as a robin, you’re flattening him down.” Idk it’s weird to me. I think the same thing is happening with Alfred, people noticed that he had flaws (not being emotionally available with Bruce when he was a kid, abandoning his child in England, etc.) and suddenly he’s a apathetic monster who doesn’t actually care for the Wayne family. Him being distant from Bruce especially grinds my gears because he regrets it so deeply. Bro was a butler and suddenly had to take care of a very traumatized child, only an angel would be able to do that perfectly.
