As a gen x to a boomer mom and silent gen dad. My mom doesn’t understand how I’ve “never got my life together” as she tells the story of how she got a life insurance settlement from her dad and was able to put a down payment on a house. So I ask her if she has life insurance so when she passes my brother and I will get the same thing? She gets mad and hangs up on me.

When roe v wade first started flipping my daughter was 3-4 and I was stressing. My 70 year old mom could not believe I was worried about it. “What are you worried about? You don’t even want more kids?” Yeah I KNOW. But also my DAUGHTER?!? Your GRANDCHILDREN?!? Like…huh?????? She just goes “ohhhh… yeah okay.”

That’s why they would always make it a big deal about “you’re young, you don’t know any better. You’ll grow up and feel the same, etc” they were actually just saying, “nanana I’m bigger and stronger than you and there’s nothing you can do about it” then never gave us a real chance to thrive.
