@mwesigwa17: In Busoga, men are called “the pillars” because they have an important role in protecting, guiding and supporting families and communities. The Abasaadha Ne’Mpango – Men Are the Pillars campaign brings men and boys together to address teenage pregnancy, child marriage, gender-based violence and the factors that put young people at risk. So why is UNAIDS supporting the project? Because engaging men and boys is essential to improving sexual and reproductive health, preventing HIV and creating healthier communities. Busoga has a teenage pregnancy rate of about 28.4%, higher than Uganda’s national rate of 24%, making action especially important.
