Dexter and Alhaitham both become people they can lean on. They’re opposites in all the right ways. Dexter is quiet, gentle, and a little awkward, while Raven is bold enough to question the fate of an entire kingdom. Alhaitham is calm, logical, and reserved, while Kaveh is also bold and loud. Instead, he gives her the confidence to keep choosing her own path (in the books, he was literally the reason why Raven decides not to sign the book and even asked about his own destiny to headmaster Grimm before Raven does, which gives her the courage to ask about hers.) Alhaitham doesn’t try to turn Kaveh into someone more logical, and Kaveh doesn’t try to erase Alhaitham’s practicality. They challenge each other, but they still accept each other.
