No fiddle. No banjo. No guitar. No band. Just me, my voice…and my feet. 👣 While I was recording “Dancing Fiddler,” I experimented and tried all kinds of new ideas. “Cluck Old Hen” came out of one of those experiments: Could I make music without a conventional instrument at all? I had absolutely no idea if it was going to work. 😂 But I LOVE how it turned out. It’s raw, stripped down, and a little unusual—but it GROOVES. My voice carries the melody, and my feet carry the rhythm. That’s it. John Hartford has always been one of my artistic heroes because he wasn’t afraid to follow an idea somewhere unexpected. His work reminds me that art doesn’t always have to be conventional—or even made to appeal to everybody. Sometimes there’s value in following your curiosity simply because you’re an artist and you want to find out where an idea will take you. And sometimes those are the things that make people lean in a little closer—to listen, think, wonder, and feel something instead of just listening on autopilot. I want to leave room in my own music for that kind of curiosity, too. So here I am, in the middle of the street on a snow day, wearing ski bibs, a parka, and snow boots…performing “Cluck Old Hen” with the only two instruments I need: my voice and my feet. 👣 (The neighborhood already thinks I’m weird anyway. 😂) This is a live version, but you can hear the studio recording on my new album, Dancing Fiddler. 🎻👣💿 DancingFiddler.com Now I need to know: Is this weird…or is this GROOVY? 😂
