GHANA PRISONS TV LAUNCHING — CHANGING THE NARRATIVE The Ghana Prisons Service is set to take a significant step forward in its communication, public engagement and advocacy efforts with the official launch of Ghana Prisons TV on Friday, 18 September 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Forecourt of the Prisons Headquarters, Cantonments, Accra. Under the leadership of Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.), Director-General of Prisons, the launch represents an important milestone in the Service’s continuing efforts to open up the correctional system, promote transparency and help the public better understand the work of the Ghana Prisons Service. The Service’s broader reform agenda places strong emphasis on humane custody, rehabilitation, reintegration and public engagement. The event will be graced by Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), Minister for the Interior, as Guest of Honour, while Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie (MP), Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, will serve as Special Guest. Changing the Narrative Under the powerful theme, “Changing the Narrative: Informing, Rehabilitating and Inspiring Through Ghana Prisons TV,” the initiative seeks to create a platform through which the Ghana Prisons Service can tell its own story—highlighting rehabilitation programmes, skills development, agriculture, education, innovation, the welfare of officers and inmates, and the many contributions being made towards successful reintegration into society. Ghana Prisons TV is therefore more than a media platform; it has the potential to become a bridge between the Prisons Service and the Ghanaian public—bringing greater understanding, awareness and appreciation of correctional work. This vision is consistent with the Service’s ongoing transformation agenda, including the Think Prisons 360° initiative, which seeks to reposition prisons through reforms in welfare, agriculture, industrialisation, digitalisation, partnerships and rehabilitation. A New Voice for Reform As Ghana Prisons TV begins this new chapter, it carries a compelling responsibility: to inform accurately, challenge misconceptions, showcase rehabilitation, celebrate transformation and inspire hope. The launch promises to be a landmark occasion as stakeholders, dignitaries, officers, partners and members of the public come together to witness the birth of a new communication platform dedicated to giving visibility to the work and transformation of Ghana’s correctional system. Ghana Prisons TV — informing minds, changing perceptions, rehabilitating lives and inspiring a better future.
