Even the DOGS that hunts are killed when they are no longer useful. They are forced to hunt by humans(hunters). Hunters do not even care about the hounds' lives, as long as they are useful.

my mam got a bloodhound. sweetest dog ever, ate like a pig. ex pack dog. from an accidental litter, so he had lots of health problems. he lived to see his 5th birthday before being put to sleep due to kidney failure. the pack he came from was amazing, they had amazing vets and were only put down if they would have suffered as a packdog (e.g. the dog my mother had, was going to be put down due to bad hip). they always loved to run and track the smells, so it would have been worse for the dogs to not take them out if they couldnt. just a little snippet of happiness to let you know that not all dog yards are like this
