Weekend vibes with Zalabya, the Lebanese donut 😍. Zalabya 11 large ~60g 16 medium ~45 2 1/2 flour -400g 1/3 cup oil 1 tbsp sugar Pinch salt 1 1/2 tbsp anis seed 1 1/2 sesame 1 heaping tbsp milk powder 1 1/2 tsp yeast 1 1/3 Lukewarm water 300 ml Neutral oil for handling and frying * In a bowl mix together flour, sugar, salt, sesame seeds, anis seeds and milk powder. * Add oil to flour mix and throughly incorporate. This can be done by hand or with a paddle mixer attachment. * Make well in center of flour and add warm water and yeast. * Allow yeast to active then knead the dough together. This can be done by hand or with a dough hook. * Once dough comes together cover with some oil and plastic wrap. Allow to rest for an hour or until doubled in size. * Once dough is rested , use a scale to divide dough into equals rounds. * Flatten dough length wise on generously oiled surface and poke a few holes in the center length wise. * Heat oil to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit. * Slowly add the zalabiya one at a time to oil and fry in small batches a few minutes on each side until golden. * Move onto a paper towel lined plate to absorb excess oil. * Serve savory with cheese and labneh or sweet with a dusting of sugar or with spread of jam. #lebanesefoodblogger #lebanesetiktok #lebaneserecipes #lebanesefood #zalabya
