@dweetle: In 2006, Mark Zuckerberg had a chance to sell Facebook for $1 billion. The company had reportedly generated around $40 million in revenue that year — and it wasn’t even profitable. From a purely financial perspective, selling looked like a massive win. But Zuckerberg didn’t see Facebook as a company that had reached its peak. He believed the platform still had enormous room to grow, with new products and features that could eventually make the company worth far more. So the board didn’t sell. That decision became one of the biggest “what if?” moments in tech history. The lesson isn’t simply “never sell.” It’s that sometimes the hardest business decision is knowing whether you’re looking at an incredible offer… or an incredible opportunity.
