Professor Dix described the 2023 rescue of 41 workers trapped for 17 days inside India’s Silkyara Tunnel as a “miracle rescue” — and now, he is hoping another miracle may still be possible in Nepal. Working from Australia, he is using satellite imagery, power station plans and helicopter footage to help locate buried hydropower stations and identify underground tunnels where survivors could potentially have found refuge. “If anyone’s going to be alive, they’ll be in there,” he told Fel & Andy.
