@8dayssg: Not everyone might know that cycling on a bridge comes with serious penalties. That’s what one errant elderly cyclist might have learned the other day when Land Transport Authority (LTA) officers approached her, when she was seen kneeling on the floor pleading with them. You can get fined up to $5,000 and/or imprisoned for 6 months for such an act. While the rule has been in effect since 1 July 2025, an investigation by 8days found that many “no riding” signs on bridges did not highlight the potential penalties. While LTA did not comment on this, the lack of penalties may owe to these signs pre-dating the new laws. It remains to be seen if these signs will be updated. Enforcement officers are not judges. The right to forgive the penalty is with the judge. TBH, the officers are caught between a rock and a hard place. If they can forgive penalties at discretion, it may be construed as corruption, as no one knows what was being offered to them. 😐 Officers need to do their jobs, and be left to do their jobs properly.

please understand the plight of role of enforcement officer. if the enforcement officer stopped you for an offence and after exercise his discretion not to issue you summons. then you go tiktok and thank him. CPIB will take interest in the conduct of enforcement officer. enforcement officer will rather you state your reasons why you should not be summons thru appeal. Or for the matter. you can cliam trial and go. to court.

Don't put the blame on the Enforcement ~ 2B charge will depend upon the higher management. U flaw the rule, U pay the consequence = straightforward.LTA prosecutors do not act completely independently. They are specially authorized by the Public Prosecutor (the AG) to handle these cases. What's the F LTA HOD who said that the Enforcement should be "Sensitive" = what leadership r U??? The enforcement write out the offense n submit to the Dept. The chiefs n the Prosecutors with AG must then b "sensitive" to execute the follow up issues.
